Yugo M92 (Krink), from Arms of America

Thu Oct 18 2007
We had a chance to see one of the Yugo M92 Zastava (Krink) re-built by Lancaster Arms, in Arizona. This one was supplied to us by a distributor for Lancaster, Arms, in Arizona also in Arizona. Arms of America is a sponsor of ours and they supplied this very cool carbine for us to do a review. Lets take a closer look at this short version of the AK47 in 7.62x39

This is described by the manufacturer as: Yugo Krinkoff, Lancaster Underfold w / Fake tube suppressor Stock No: 9000, Price $1,195.00 (although Arms of America sells it a bit cheaper)

Further description from the manufacturer: 1 mm Stamped NoDac Spud Receiver, Chrome lined Barrel, Solid trigger pin retainer, Polished bolt carrier,   Recoil Buffer supplied, Single Hook Trigger group,   Finish Gun- Kote over Parkerized metal, Black Oxide or Military Gray Parkerized  finish available at no extra charge, 30 round magazine

Here's what Arms, in Arizona has to say about them on their website: Yugoslavian Krinkov Under Folding AK47 Rifle, 7.62 x 39, semi auto, these rifles feature original imported Krinkov AK parts built on a fully heat treated Global Trades or Nodak Spud 1mm stamped Under-fold Receiver. Features a chrome lined barrel and parkerized and baked on epoxy Moly-Kote semi-finish black. Comes with a Life time warranty, Tapco G2 fire control group, wood handguards, barrel extension to bring the barrel to legal lenght, under folder stock, sling, and a 30 round  mag.  Built by Lancaster.  This item must ship to a Federal Firearms Licensed Dealer.

These are built with a shorter barrel than is legal in the United States, so a 'fake' suppressor is attached permanently which brings the length out to legal measurement (16.5" or so). The shortened barrel makes for shorter handguards too, which is why 'Krink' furniture doesn't fit 'regular size' AK47s and AKMs

The writing on the receiver is on the side. Many collectors frown at that, but most shooters could care less. In any case it's fairly small and easy to overlook (except in close up pictures). note the fit and finish of this rifle, very high quality in my opinion

The safety in the 'on' (up) and 'off' (down) positions. The safety fits well with the receiver cover, another sign of a good build

Built on a Global Trades (Armory USA) 1mm receiver. So no 'F' or "S"  for 'Fire" and "Safety". The safety has a cut out to hold the bolt back, and an extra tab to aid in switching the safety on and off

Two shots of the 'hinge' that holds the receiver cover to the front trunnion. Since it uses a hinge the top cover can't be lost. It's also in the way sometimes during cleaning. Also it makes the receiver cover more sturdy, and allows the rear sight to be moved back on the receiver cover to be closer to the shooters eye

The front and rear sights have 'night sights' that flip up and provide three BRIGHT green dots to aid in acquiring a target in low (or no) light. Bringing the rear sight to the rear also creates a longer sight distance which typically aids in accurate shooting

Two easy to spot features tell us this is a Yugoslavian version of an AK, the three slots in eh handguards (most AKMs and AK47s have just two slots) and the pistol grip. It's a unique shape and material for AKMs of the time. Many US made copies of this style are now available because this is a comfortable grip!

A few more shots of the 'fake can' and front handguards

And a few closing shots of the great little AK47 style carbine. These would make an excellent choose to SBR. See another review of ours where we show an SBR (legally short) go head to head with a standard AK47

WASR-10 and Yugo M92

The WASR-10 is  a standard fixed  stock, full length version. The Yugo Krink AKS-47U is a SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) an NFA item that requires a background check and a $200 federal tax to shorten the barrel

The front ends, Yugo AKs have three air holes (gaps) which is an easy way to determine a Yugo. The WASR-10 is a standard fixed stock, full length version. The Yugo Krink AKS-47U is a SBR (Short Barreled Rifle) an NFA item that requires a background check and a $200 federal tax to shorten the barrel
